Welcome To Web Access Consulting
Web Access Consulting has been working from behind the scenes for the past few years. Although I’ve not been as active in the “web accessibility” arena as I’d have liked to, I am now very well poised to help with all of your web accessibility needs. Short of fully designing your web site, I can perform a detailed report as to any accessibility barriers that might prevent your potential user(s) form accessing your web site.
Believe it or not, the types of barriers can be ones that escape the typical web designer/developer. It is critical to understand how users with disabilities or others with older equipment access your content.
Did you know – some individuals browse by using the “headings” in you pages with all of the other content turned off. Did you know – some users of assistive technology browse by using the active links on your pages? I will discuss some of these barriers on the “The Trap” page and elsewhere throughout the web site. After you’ve read the information on The Trap page, check out, How I Work. If you want an insight into how I might help, take a look at the page titled, Is This You? And, do not forget to sign up for our free monthly newsletter at our Sign-Up page…and, tell all of your friends and colleagues to check us out as well.
My background is first hand knowledge of disability (having a family member with blindness), a Master’s Degree in Special Education, Severe Disabilities and a number of years working with The World Wide Web Consortium’s, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines – Working Group (WCAG 2.0).
Prior to moving to sunny California from Anchorage, Alaska, I worked for the Special Education Service Agency as an Education Specialist within the Multiple Disabilities Program. Holding this position for a number of years allowed me to present on disability related topics at the following premier conferences: Technology and Persons with Disabilities, Closing The Gap and various other statewide conferences.
